About Me

I'm James Birle, a recent graduate from Fordham University and I'm a sports broadcaster/reporter. Currently, I work as a play-by-play commentator, covering local grassroots soccer around the NY/NJ area as well as a credentialed beat reporter for the New York Red Bulls with Empire Soccer Report, my own soccer media outlet and podcast. 

I have been in sports media for over four years, starting my time in the industry with Fordham's flagship radio station, WFUV Sports. With WFUV, I had the privilege of covering Fordham sports on New York's longest running sports call-in show, "One on One", as well as commentating Fordham Men's and Women's soccer for ESPN+ among other sports. Additionally, I served as the station's Red Bulls and New Jersey Devils beat reporter for three full seasons each. 

Outside of school, I interned in the Media Services department at SNY in the summer of 2024 and currently host my own podcast dedicated to NJ Devils analysis, called Puck on the Parkway. Most recently, I have joined Sportsnaut and NJ Hockey Now as a contributing writer, and I could not be more excited to sink my teeth deeper into Devils coverage.
