According to Farzam Abolhosseini of Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Red Bull New York had a bid rejected by Brøndby IF for 20-year-old American goalkeeper Gavin Beavers.
Beavers joined the Danish Superligaen side in January 2025 via transfer after breaking through in Major League Soccer as a homegrown for Real Salt Lake in 2022. The Henderson, NV native made 18 appearances in three MLS seasons for RSL before making the jump to Europe.
In his year with Brøndby, he impressed in his lone appearance against Nordsjælland in April 2025 when first and second choice keepers Patrick Pentz and Thomas Mikkelsen were both serving suspensions. Seen by the club as an important backup and potential starting goalkeeper for the future, Brøndby was unwilling to sell the player.
This news comes after RBNY Head of Sport Julian de Guzman had mentioned that the team is "close" to solving the goalkeeper situation at the club when asked at Michael Bradley's introductory press conference on Jan. 5. As it stands, RBNY's contracted goalkeepers consist of John McCarthy, Aidan Stokes, Tobias Szewczyk and the injured AJ Marcucci, with McCarthy penciled in to be the starter. The Tipsbladet report mentions that the bid came from New York this winter, but it is unclear if de Guzman's comments were in reference to Beavers.
Had the deal gone through, Beavers would have joined defender Justin Che as the second player from Brøndby IF to join the Red Bulls this offseason.
