On Thursday, Feb. 26, Red Bull New York announced that it had finalized the signing of Belgian youth international left back Joyeux Masanka Bungi on loan from RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga.
The Berchem-Saint-Agathe, Belgium native will join RBNY on a loan deal that will keep him with the club through June 30th.
The 19-year-old has featured multiple times in Leipzig's Bundesliga matchday squads but has collected 56 appearances between the U-17 and U-19 age groups. He signed his first professional contract for Leipzig in February 2025.
At the international level, Masanka Bungi has been a regular for Belgian youth teams, totaling an impressive 28 between the U-15, U-16, U-17, and U-18 age groups.
“We’re pleased to welcome Joyeux on loan from RB Leipzig,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “He’s a talented young player with strong technical quality, and we believe this will be an important step in his development while adding to our group.”
“Joyeux is a talented young player with a strong mentality, and we are looking forward to working with him,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “We are excited to help him continue his development.”
Bradley elaborated further on the Masanka Bungi signing at a virtual press conference on Thursday.
"The people in Leipzig and at Red Bull Global speak very, very highly of him. And so we are really looking forward to adding him to our group, and to seeing if we can take the really good starting points and help develop him even more."
