On Tuesday, Red Bull New York announced that it had signed academy midfielder Paul Sokoloff to an MLS NEXT Pro contract that will keep the 16-year-old with the club through 2027. Starting in 2028, Sokoloff will join the first team on a three-year MLS contract as a Homegrown Player, keeping him with the club through the 2030 MLS season.
Sokoloff began his time with RBNY at eight years old. In 2017, he was a standout at a Youth Programs Summer Camp in New York City and subsequently began a Regional Development Program. In 2018, he was named to an RDS showcase team before joining the Pre-Academy program at the U-10 age group.
From there, the Brooklyn native has climbed through the club ranks, making his first appearance with RBNY II on August 15, a ten-minute cameo in his MLS NEXT Pro debut.
In international play, Sokoloff has been a regular with U.S. youth programs, tallying three goals in seven appearances with the U-15 national team as well as three more goals in four appearances with the U-16 national team. Most recently, he was called in to the U-17 national team's Novemeber International Training Camp in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
