On Friday, AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola announced that U.S. midfielder Tyler Adams had suffered a torn MCL in their match against Manchester United four days earlier.
The injury came in the fifth minute of what would go on to be a 4-4 thriller between the Cherries and the Red Devils.
For the 26 year old, it's a difficult blow but one that could have been worse with a more serious diagnosis. As it stands, the former USMNT captain will recover in time for next summer's World Cup, but could miss the next batch of tune-up friendlies in March against Belgium and Portugal.
Adams has been excellent with Bournemouth this season, featuring in 15 matches and tallying two goals, including an absolute worldie from the halfway line that would go on to win Premier League Goal of the Month. Adams is the first American ever to win the monthly award.
